Bundeena is the gateway to the majestic and awesome diverse landscapes Royal National Park, the towering sandstone cliffs and deep blue ocean as far as the eye can see. dropping away to rocky platforms abundant ideal whale watching territory. Beautiful white sands and uncrowded surf beaches including Marley, Garie and Era Beaches. The beach shack dotted along the coast, but little used communities blend into the landscape and add to the interest of the area.
Camping in the Royal National Park
The Bonnie Vale picnic and camping grounds are
a great base for a day out. Go for a dip in the sheltered clear waters of Simpson’s
Bay or make sand castles on the beach. Or being along your fishing gear and dangle
a line. Then cook up a storm using the provided gas BBQ facilities and enjoy the
rest of your day
The Bonnie Vale camping area at Bundeena is ideally situated on the
beachfront and adjacent to Cabbage Tree Basin on the edge of town. The area has ammenities
blocks, BBQ facilities and Bookings call : Or for some true bush camping there
are various spots in the RNP where camping is permitted. Permits are required. Check
with NPWS for more iinformation.
Fantastic cliff top and bush walking tracks can
be explored throughout in the Royal National Park, many of which are just a stones
throw away from Bundeena and Maianbar. Details of some popular walks are listed below
with approximate duration, however we recommend that you view a bushwalking map prior

Jibbon Loop 2 hours
Begin by walking to the end of Jibbon Beach then follow the bush track through to secluded and beautiful Shelley Beach. You then have the choice of following the track bordering the coast until the Bundeena turnoff or you can take head back along the fire service trail. Both tracks finish up at the end of Beachcomber Avenue in Bundeena (a 20 min walk to the ferry wharf).
Footbridge Walk 30 mins return
This is a great short walk starting from Bonnie Vale camping ground (to the left of the toilet blocks). The walk takes you through some lush palms and bush, mangroves and to the foot bridge linking Bundeena and Maianbar. This is the entrance to Cabbage Tree Basin and Creek a tranquil and beautiful area, best explored from aboard a kayak.
Marley Beach 2.5hrs return
Take the trail from end of Beachcomber Avenue and follow
the Coast Track to Marley Beach. Take in some spectacular cliff top views. Great
place to check out the whales
